April 2010: The Where? Issue

“Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to great places!
You’re off and away!

“You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.”
-Dr. Seuss, from “Oh the Places You Will Go”

“We need to steer clear of this poverty of ambition, where people want to drive fancy cars and wear nice clothes and live in nice apartments but don’t want to work hard to accomplish these things. Everyone should try to realize their full potential.” – Barack Obama

In April the Journalism Stars worked very hard indeed! As fourth graders they had to take the state ELA and math tests, prepare for upcoming state science tests, and most members did two stories for this month’s issue.

We hope you join in their excitement as in this issue we explore the Journalism Stars’ favorite places near and far.  A few of our reporters help to explain where kids go after school ends at 2:40 and after they will graduate 5th grade.  They also interview other students from France and share their favorite places to visit in the virtual world.  Enjoy!
